Hi, Seabirders!
The Shearwater Journey's pelagic trip from Monterey Bay today had
several highlights: PEREGRINE FALCONS (2) were on station along Cannery
Row; the female HARLEQUIN DUCK continues in the harbor; a few
BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSSES (4 or 5) are still around; the MANX SHEARWATER
which seems to be hanging around Pt Pinos was found about 4 miles out
today; a single SHORT-TAILED SHEARWATER flew into our wake; a flock of
30 BULLER'S SHEARWATERS seemed poised to head south; off Pleasure Point
in Santa Cruz, we spotted the first of 8-10 MARBLED MURRELETS, with
up-close views; a single SABINE'S GULL made a brief pass in the late
afternoon; and the dolphin & whale show was just spectacular! It was a
nice day.
The leaders for this trip were: Jennifer Green, Clay Kempf, Alvaro
Jaramillo, Ted Chandik, & Debra Shearwater
.
We have spaces open on all of our remaining fall trips, including this
Sunday, October 8th. The leaders for the Oct 8th trip are: Gerry
McChesney, Clay Kempf, Matt Brady, Ryan Terrill, & Debra Shearwater. If
you have Monday, Oct 9th as a holiday, you might want to join us on the
Bodega Bay trip. Leaders for this trip are: Lisa Hug, Steve Howell,
