American Redstart photos by David Vander Pluym
Birders,
We had a great day Friday, offshore on Monterey Bay. There are
lots of birds in the Bay right now, and Buller's have definitely arrived for
the fall. Highlights were a strong jaeger showing, a cooperative South
Polar Skua and the first Wilson's Storm-Petrel of the season. An unexpected
guest on board the boat was an adult male American Redstart that spent the
day foraging around people's feet! Debi has room on all her boats this year
so please try to get up to Monterey and get offshore!
Notes: Shearwater Journeys Pelagic: Overcast and calm
conditions. Adult male American Redstart stayed on board for the entire
day. Wilson's Storm-Petrel was found about 12 miles out over Carmel Canyon.
